BPSO RESPONSE
Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama respond following Hillary Clinton’s Pennsylvania victory.
CORRECTION. It’s actually “The Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group”. Apologies.
CORRECTION II. Scrolling down to “Purpose”, the full title is revealed to be “The Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group)”. Again, my apologies.
UPDATE. “This still might not be right,” cautions wronwright. “It could be a pronouncement by the ‘Working Group for the Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group)’”. Good point. And Hanyu offers “a year’s free subscription to the Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group) blog for the person who most accurately completes the following sentence (from ‘Purpose’)”:
Given the demands of academic life and the limited resources of sociologists ...
Goodness I need new glasses
I read that heading as Black and Progressive Schoolgirls for Obama…...............

That they’re black supremacists?
WTF is a magazine called ‘Ebony’ doing on their blog?
What would they say if Clinton was supported by a group calling itself ‘White and Progressive Sociologists for Clinton’ and their blog was littered with references to magazines named ‘Ivory’ or “Whiteness’?
Dickheads.
Well, all three candidates got their priorities right, when they presented to the WWE, broadcast here (Australia)tonight. Hillary’s and Obama’s humour was a bit stilted, sounded like they were talking down to the great American wrestling public, but McCain came across as genuine and won applause for his reference to the great cage fight in November.

Tim, this still might not be right. It could be a pronouncement by the “Working Group for the Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group)”.

Mark my words. If Obama secures the Democratic nomination, a vote for McCain will be asserted to be a racist act per se.

Posted by surfmaster on 2008 04 23 at 05:47 AM • permalinkThink there is a lot less to The Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group) than meets the eye. The most comments received to a Robert Newby posted thread is one (the loneliest number) and that’s usually from opponent PeterW.
The rest of the working group certainly aren’t supporting a blog started in their name. Imagine it is awkward for those who are not black, considering it is clearly as racist as a Jeremiah Wright sermon.
Their title is not very inclusive. To attract more members they should be called “Black Progressives, Black Sociologists, Progressive Sociologists, and Black Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group).”
Posted by daddy dave on 2008 04 23 at 06:41 AM • permalink...or to combine both wronwright’s suggestion and my own, they could take this to its logical conclusion and rename themselves “Working Group for Black Progressives, Black Sociologists, Progressive Sociologists, and Black Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group).”

He’s [Gibson]entitled to his opinion, but the most fascinating aspect was waiting to see how low he [Gibson] and Stephanopoulos would go, and then being appalled at the answer.
...a misstatement that was mangled up…
Dems complaining about bias?
It is all there to see in black and white. Or is that colour? Must not introduce race this is not about cars or horses.

Does anyone else think that Obama’s campaign logo (that sun/red-and-white stripes in a roundel on a blue field thingummie) looks like the flag of one of those obscure Central Asian “-stan” countries run by a President-for-Life?
I think we should be told.

The Greater Oceania Liberal Latins Youth Working Group were in support, too, but were rejected for some reason?
Too much overlap with the “Oceanic Latin Liberal Youth Caucus Working Group.”
Plus they lost lots of members to the “Greater Oceania Hispanic Liberal Youth Working Group.”Posted by daddy dave on 2008 04 23 at 08:13 AM • permalink#12 egg
White and Progressive Sociologists for Clinton doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.Hmm. Egg, this is true.
But White and Progressive Proctologists for Clinton has a better… erm… ring, don’t you think?
It is also a heck of a voting bloc, considering just how many neocommie arseholes the left actually contains.

But I suppose the whole thing is in the same vein (make that vain) as the 2020 Kruddfest.
These people do not belly laugh at what they find around them - they snicker in unison at vicious fantasies they make up about people - and blame the people they fantasise about for the ludicrousness of the image. As with Downer in the fish-net stockings.

Is Obama working the Working Group on the Black and Progressive Sociologists for Obama Working Group (Working Group?
Does he have them fooled that he’s either black or Progressive?

Posted by charles austin on 2008 04 23 at 11:19 AM • permalink#44 Dave: There all kinds of groups like that. Take, for example, Progressive Aleut Chiefs for Obama. This small Alaskan Indian tribe is raising money from the sale of excess whale blubber to distribute videos of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s messages of healing and reconciliation to swing (i.e., “bitter”) districts in all the remaining primary states.
it would be the working party - how unnecessarily divisive of them making such a bourgeois, discriminatory distinction between themselves & the Non-Working Group of Black Progressive Socialists for Obama.

But a *black* conservative would be welcome at the BPSO(WG). This is insane.
I am tired of Black Conservatives lording it over the rest of us. Marching into elite social groups while we are left on the outside looking in.
The People! United! Will Never…!
oh forget it.
Re Congressional Black Caucus remember this?
