<< MARCH MOPAR MADNESS SALE ~ MAIN ~ FACE ALL OVER AUSTRALIA >>
DEEPLY CONCERNED
Why is Kofi Annan depressed? Head on over to Roger L. Simon’s place for an insider account of oil-for-food investigations that might explain Kofi’s sadness.
Lets see now - we have had “you taunt” U Thant (from that country still struggling to suppress the dangerous radical democrat Aung Sang Suu Kyi), “two times” Waldheim, Boutros Boutros Gali Gali Gosh, and “killer” de Cuellar.
Time for a Kofi Break.
Pardon my levity, such as it is, but this organisation is hostage to various ratbag members, many of whom should have observer status only.
There seems little point in holding votes at all in the general assembly, made up of so many who have usurped their people’s sovereignty.
At least Kofi had the political sense to go to the head of the parade - ie suggest that reform was necessary. He may as well go now.The old USSR used to control three United Nations’ votes. One for Ukraine, one for Belarus (Byelorussia), and one for the USSR.
In fact, the Soviets wanted all of the constitutent Republics of the USSR to be individual members.
I think Nauru, population 12,000, is the smallest UN member, and gets one vote.

Things don’t change.

He can do fact-finding on child-molestation and rape of local women by UN peacekeepers. Remember Kofi, this is a cash-only deal; those ladies don’t take plastic.

By now there is just about nothing the commenters here would think was beyond the UN. I suspect we will find complicity with genocide after the Darfur “peacekeeping” deployment.Posted by Michael Lonie on 2005 03 29 at 01:43 AM • permalink

Oh my, and so much compassion.
