DISSIDENT ATTACKED

Pravda’s unique take on the Don Imus debacle:

In a clear sign of its intent to reign in dissident American media personalities, and their growing influence in American culture, US War Leaders this past week launched an unprecedented attack upon one of their most politically ‘connected’, and legendary, radio hosts named Don Imus after his threats to release information relating to the September 11, 2001 attacks upon that country.

Al Sharpton and the National Organization for Women - they’re US War Leaders!

  1. after his threats to release information relating to the September 11, 2001 attacks

Someone had better inform the Australian 9/11 truthers that the conspiracy has widened to Sharpton and the National Organization for Women! I predict heads will start exploding soon…

  2. Now come on Tim, we all know “The Truth” really died in Eastern Europe with the fall of communism. (according to a Russian associate, only ‘dream suckers’ in the West and the Internet really saved it). But to some in the western world and Fairfax, “The Truth” is still sacrosanct. I did rather enjoy reading the old style, just to see if it compares with some of our local ‘scribes’ and of course publications.
Many years ago anything marked for the Age was nicknamed “Pravda”.

  5. The only thing I know of Don Imus in Oz is that he called people Ho’s on his radio station.  Never heard of the term before, except on a Kevin Bloody Wilson tape I have.  I’ll admit I sat in the first tables to the stage at Sutherland United Services Club at one of Kevin’s concerts 20 years ago.  I looked like Boonie then, moustache and all.  And he reminded me of that with a few expletives.  Maybe more than a few.  A very funny singer and comedian.

Here’s how Australia treats the word Ho.

BTW, you might have to log into youtube to listen.  It’s rated for adolescent males or above.  There were quite a few females in the audience, so I suppose the ladies can listen too.

  6. So Pravda is saying that the Rutgers women’s basketball team carried out 9/11? Who would have known!

  7. See Pravda has engaged the English language expert from North Korean KNCA.

Love the “online since January 27th, 1999” up the top left corner. Shouldn’t it say: “Brought to you by the American imperialist military war machine computers since January 27th, 1999.”

  8. If anyone accuses me of being racist, I spent the day at Cricket Masala ... at Bankstown Oval.  And loved it.  Africa captained by Kevin Pillay defeated the Bradman Foundation in the Final.  I expect the 2008 Cricket Masala will be held about the same time next year, get down to Bankstown Oval when it happens.  Cricket, according to my Sri Lankan host, is a great leveller.  That’s what we need, not just in Australia, but the rest of the world.

  9. Come on, folks, let’s not get al worked up over a simple typo. It’s obviously supposed to read “U.S. Whore Leaders”.

Aussies eat crickets? And I think that I’d prefer Tandoori Cricket, myself. Mmm. Crunchy.

  10. Sorry, “all worked up”. I don’t know what Al would have to do with it other than being a famous U.S. Whore Leader.

  11. PRAVDA means “Truth.” You could look it up. So where else would you expect to find the Imus affair analyzed from a truthiness standpoint?

    Wow! Nostalgia!

Can’t remember the exact quote, but when Charles de Gaulle was asked about the Soviet Union, he said something to the effect of, “The Soviet Union has come and it will go, but Russia will always be Russia.”

  15. I was actually writing a post about this yesterday for my blog and then realized that this is not the Pravda of old.  Or at least its site states that it’s been around since 1999.  Anyway, after seeing the headline about the alien dwarf as mentioned above, it kind of took the wind out of my sails.

  16. I’m not sure Pradva is calling Al Sharpton a “war leader”, I think they are claiming the White House had Don Imus fired.

Then again, was Reverend Al in on the consipiracy, or just an unwitting dupe? Truthiness demands an answer!

  22. Imus’s comments were disgusting, but funny how, in some quarters at least, Imus’s attempts at humour were bad, whereas Borat’s cruel “comedy” was funny.

  23. #18 ROFL!!!

The hypocrisy of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton pointing fingers at Imus is astounding.

Imus was ugly, sometimes—but he was listened to. Prolly he’ll find a home in satellite radio, where you can still say what you want without nannies ready to wash your mouth out with soap.

As for Pravda—nice to see some things never change :o) I love those absurdities, kind of like “arbeit macht frei.” (Vonnegut would have loved the Pravda item, thinks me)
