“DOWNRIGHT OFFENSIVE”

Webdiary reader Mike Lyvers requests of guest editor Harry Heidelberg:

Harry, now that you’ve got the keys to Webdiary, how about inviting, say, Tim Blair to contribute an article? It would be interesting to see the look on Margo’s face when she returns.

Harry replies:

Yes that would be pretty funny, Blair in Webdiary! I don’t think I’d get far. I was banned from Tim Blair sometime last year for daring to defend Margo. I am sure you have read some of the stuff in his blog. It is quite puerile, not to say even downright offensive. I probably should be good this first time I have been given the keys. It’s like when your parents first let you take out the car alone. Not a good idea to go down to the mall and do 360’s etc. Then again, if Blair were to write, I suppose he would be treated equally, a courtesy he rarely extends himself!

Harry (who has appeared in comments here several times) is presumably unaware that Kingston refuses to publish anything I send Webdiary’s way. Too few spelling errors, apparently.

  1. Yeah, but Tim, you’n'Andrea censor because you’re evil, intolerant conservatives.  Margo censors out of principle.  Obvious difference.

Tim, this is pretty sad.  are you so lacking in self-esteem that you are unable or unwilling to treat yourself equally?

  3. I have a blog and refuse to publish anything by either Tim Blair or Margo, unless it comes over the news wires, eg.  ``I guess she just snapped,’’ said Australian blogger Tim Blair.

  4. Is Harry Heidelberg any relation to the recently banned David Heidelberg?  They both seem to have similar problems connecting with reality.

  5. Yes. Tim, please remember to extend yourself. Stand with the tall dogs or just give it a tug every now’n'again. Either way your extension will be appreciated by Herr - oh, sorry! Harry Heidelberg.

  8. Harry, Tim, you should do it.  Something cute but enlightening would be good.

  9. Hey Tim, perhaps if you publish under the name of This is Not Tim Blair you’ll gain access.

  10. Tim, why not post the last piece which Margo rejected?

  13. It’s Elite Club of The Banned again. I’ve seen Harry H’s (not the David one) name on loads of these messages since way back. Maybe they simply keep niggling until they do get banned so they can say “see!”.

  14. There’s a Harry Heidelberg who has full membership here. He hasn’t been banned. But maybe it’s a different Harry Heidelberg. It’s such a common name.

  15. I’ve just been to inner Margolia, and it sure is a strang place.

I notice though that a bunch of Marolians are calling for Tim to get engaged in a debate.  Talk about gluttons for punishment.

Go get ‘em Tim.  With your spelling skills you’re sure to blow these numbskulls away.

  16. Banned for daring to disagree.

    What a fucking surprise.

Registration ban or full IP ban, I wonder.

  17. For all the recent newcomers to the Cult of Blair, here’s the message that Harry blessed us with on his first visit. (Ban’s further down in the comments to that post.)

Other than that original drive-by trolling, he’s actually been perfectly cordial on his sporadic visits since then, AFAI can recall.

  18. Right—I let him back in because he was polite. See, it’s not the disagreement, it’s the rudeness right off the bat—“Well, you jerks just suck!” or something like that usually being their very first comment. Certain visitors to this site just can’t seem to grasp that.

Them “certain visitors” is what we’un calls “trolls” in this part o’ the country, podnuh!
