HILTON FOR MILTON?
Turns out NSW Labor politicians are capable of worse things than mere speeding. Maybe he’ll be replaced by Neville Hilton ...
And he’s been sacked by Iemma, ““I am today dismissing him as a minister and a Labor MP” but “I make no judgment on his guilt or innocence”
Yeah sure - so Milton Orkopoulos’ offence is to be charged with an offence! So much for innocent until proven guilty, especially if he’s seen as a liability. I suppose 1 charge of serious sexual offences = 2
liesuntruths to parliament = 1 sacking offence. Such is the state of Justice in the former penal colony of New South Wales. And is his government falling apart? “Absolutely not”, say he! Huh, what’s that again? This is starting to remind me of federal politics in 1975!
Gee, I’m not sure “Lingus4”, what sort of name is, err, Milton?
It would not at all be feasible for Milton (that’s his name) to stay on. The flak and negative publicity would be incredible. I had a look at the links for Neville Hilton. What a piece of work. However, I had to laugh at somebody’s comment connecting child sex abuse with the ALP. Sure, now bend over and let the schoolmaster give you a spanking. Really, such comments are so stupid as to not even warrant a response. Frankly, child sex abuse is hardly the preserve of one political group.
It seems strange that Iemma not only punted him from the Ministry but also seemed to think he could expel him from the Party and the Parliament.I didn’t realise that he possessed those kinds of powers but listening to part of his Press Conference broadcast on various Sydney radio stations he certainly seemed to think that he did have. When asked by a reporter to clarify his view of the principle of “innocent until proven guilty” he waffled on about the accused being better able to defend himself “as a private citizen”.He didn’t elaborate on that statement but given that Iemma’s trade before he went into politics was that of solicitor I guess he knows best.
Poor old Milton’s paradise is now lost.

Here, in this thread on recent comments by an Anglican Bishop, we see two of the three. The very first response:
what’s he got to say about worldwide jewry?
if anything, THAT is the epitomy of ‘victimhood and domination’
Another comment:
i think he should stick to his religion
Unfortunately, the thread died without a pissweak metaphor.

He could, I suppose, convince the Labor party to kick him out which means he would retain his seat as an independent. More likely is he would force him to resign from parliament by whatever means.
It is an interesting issue though. As Darlene said, politically it is infeasible he could stay on. But if you haven’t been found guilty of anything then it can be seen as a denial of natural justice to be sacked from your job. I would have thought the “standing aside for the good of the party to be sacked later when actually convicted” option would have been the most likely course.
A drovers dog should be able to lead the NSW Libs to election victory. Instead they’ve got a welders dog.
Posted by Infidel Tiger on 2006 11 08 at 04:03 AM • permalink#7 Ian Deans.People in the Labor Party were happy to stand in the way, only a few months ago, when the Libs proposed the introduction of the so-called “Nicole’s Law” based on the legislation now in place in many States in the USA.This would have put in place a mechanism for naming and shaming convicted paedophiles with a view to providing added protection for children. We got to hear all of the standard bleating from the “progressive” side of politics about “rights etc”.For paedophiles that is!
Does one sense a trend emerging? Bill D’Arcy and Keith Wright of the Queensland Labor Party…
Wright once led Qld Labor into an election against Sir Joh under the positioning statement ‘Keith Wright and Labor - A New Direction’.
Read it out loud, quickly.

OT along those lines:
Did anyone see Spicks and Specks tonight. They had a female composer on who had written a concerto for two cars. The performance featured an orchestra, two dancers and two Toyota Cressidas, and used noises that the cars made as part of the music. The panel were making noises along the lines of “How artistic; how quirky!” I was thinking “Whose taxes paid for that pile of shite????”
Perhaps it was performed at La Mama…

abc reporter to generic lefty academic-‘can’t iemma make this into a positive?’ i almost fell off my chair laughing- especially after hearing references to the foley scandal all day in connection with the us elections.lets recap- right wing pollie sends embarrassing and creepy emails to innappropriate young men who are nevertheless over the age of consent and nothing transpires - thats a scandal. leftwing pollie drugs and abuses little boys and its something to spin?
Orkopoulos might stink like the augean stables but iemma’s no heracles.
TWO LABOR MINISTERS SACKED ON THE SAME DAY!
Minister Malbarough on the other side of the country too.
He had his phone bugged by the CCC and was caught red handed, TAKING ORDERS ON WHAT TO SAY ANSWERING A QUESTION (from ex Premier BRIAN BURKE OF W.A. INC FAME)...IN PARLIAMENT.
His mate the newish Premier, who appointed him, is ex (ABC) MEDIA LIKE BRIAN.
AGAINST ALL ADVICE the Premier rescinded an order by former Premier Galop that Mins were to have NO dealings with ex Premier Burke. The Min and Burke were involved in assisting some real estate development deal
(involving a shire council approval I think.) Perjury charges are not out of the question anyhow.O/T On previous thread,Walterplinge sent us to a link on American voting patterns from the Opinion section of The Australian.
There was a third article underneath which contained content from a critique of BBC (I POSTED it a few threads back). This paragraph was definitely NOT included in the BBC SITE article, so maybe BBC did not want anyone to see it, damning though the trimmed story was anyway.
Here it is:
BBC Washington correspondent Justin Webb at a recent “BBC Impartiality Seminar” in Britain, CONCEDES the BBC’s Anti -American BIAS.
“America is often portrayed as an IGNORANT, UNSOPHISTICATED place full of BIBLE BASHERS and ruled to a DANGEROUS extent by TRASHY TELEVISION, SUPERSTITION and RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY- a place lacking in RESPECT FOR EVIDENCE BASED KNOWLEDGE.
I KNOW HOW IT IS PORTRAYED
BECAUSE I HAVE DONE MY BIT TO PAINT THAT PICTURE TOO.”according to the news story it sounds like ALP covered the complaint up.
“A complaint was made to an electoral officer who passed it on to another ALP member. The A.L.P. member said he had informed the Police and the I.C.A.C. about the matter but police said there was no official record of such a complaint.”crash
Collins it was. I think he has a terminal illness so may not ever be formaly convicted.

I’d add (quietly) that there is speculation that one or possibly two senior pollies may have passed on information to the ...um… said gentlemen (no I’m not at all paranoid) in regards to a police investigation. It has a particular name .... that’s right, perverting the course of justice. But that’s okay. We will find out one day. The court gag order will be lifted. I mean the ALP has to lose sometime.
#28, Bob Collins drove his vehicle into a tree, before he went to trial. I believe he’s still in hospital.

Good to have friends in high places.
Nobody should be surprised what Labor politicians are doing to kids in NSW. They’ve already set a precedent with health, transport, education, and water.

1. Fairfax Age-Herald/ABC Radio all tell us he has “child sex charges” against him.
2. The Telegraph says he is charged with “paying for sex with a 16 year old boy”...Interesting to see the postmodern left is working hard to protect the reputations of poofdahs, perverts and pedophiles by refusing to discriminate on the basis of which sex they assaulted.
Tasmania is in trouble too, must be if ex ABC and radio Wendy Harmer says so..
“The grubby political scene in Tasmania is STILL THE FESTERING BOIL on the backside of the A.L.P. Bully boy Paul Lennon is an old style union throwback of the worst kind.
Lennon’s pandering to Gunns is nauseating.
Kim Beazley’s credentials on global warming are threadbare while he allows Lennon to RUN AROUND WITH A CHAINSAW in the Tassie forests.” condensed from Crikey.

It saddens me to think that we are represented by people like this. And that some branch and party members must have known of Mr Orkopoulos’ activities during at least 9 years but said nothing.
Despite what Mr. Iemma says, the NSW state Labor Party is absolutely falling apart. Bob Carr and Michael Egan saw it coming and, like all rats, deserted the sinking ship. Pity though we don’t have a decent alternative.
