ALL-WHITE DEATH FESTIVAL

“I had no idea HoWARd and the Chimpler killed so many,” writes reader Raff, who notes in the piece headlined Wear White for Peace on Global Day that the Iraqi death toll has now blown out to 125,000. It’s like inflation under Whitlam.

1. Hi, Tim, I fixed the link. For some reason the settings here take any url with an “&” in it and do something wacky. I have to replace “&” with “&”—that gets the system to “recognize” it. As this is frustrating and tedious I will be looking for a way to get rid of this problem once and for all.

2. You mean “&” with “&”?

3. Oh! It’s up to 125K now? Based on…?

Is this another number picked out of the air, like the 100K’s “95% certainty of between 8,000 and 190,000” or is it like the infamous Afghanistan Body Count were any number that anyone anywhere spouted was added and considered “definitive”?

I’ll be the first to predict that within the next month or two, someone will make a claim of “at least 200,000” and be taken seriously.

4. So, all these peace guys are going to rise up as one great surrender flag? Should be something to see.

5. Hmm, that is actually an interesting website: it’s the actual printed newspaper, advertisements and all. Other than the politics, it’s very much like my local daily—even the hardware store ad looks very familiar.

6. There’s an amusing picture of Bob Ellis on page 8 of the paper.. must’ve been taken in about 1975, I think.

7. AEbrain: maybe I need to go back to over-consumption of caffeine… I mean, I have to use the percent symbol followed by the number 26 to get the “&” symbol to come out properly in certain urls. I will post that in the faq I am working on for this site, which will be done… someday. But for now here is a handy url-encode reference for those who want it.

8. “Margeaux” ?

I suppose if I was named after that fruitcake I’d be changing the spelling too.

9. these clowns are protesting in Hyde park Sydney on 20 March. IF anyone wants to go with me email vespa1970 at hot mail. I am thinking of making signs that take the lefts arguements to their logical conclusion such as:
“Save Saddam”
“Free Tibet not Iraq”
“Politics not Democracy”
“We love you Osama”

etc

10. Gandhi and Martin Luther King both showed non violence is the effective way to resist the increasing militarisation of our planet.

So it was Gandhi and Martin Luther King (rather than Churchill and Reagan) who led the successful resistance and ultimate defeat of fascism and communism? Perhaps we should all look to the leadership of the Dali Lama (advised by Richard Gere) in the fight against islamo-fascism?

BTW - isn’t it good to see that Friends of the ABC will also participate.

11. March 20 - of course: Palm Sunday, that very special day in the Christian calendar for the ‘socially aware’. Twenty years ago it was People for Nuclear Disarmament, now it’s the ‘Say Sorry to Saddam’ Brigade. And they’ll all be in the one place together - damned shame I used the last of my mustard gas on the neighbours last week…

12. Yeah, well, look at it this way. That so many stupid people are able to assemble and not be struck down by a pillar of fire is evidence of God’s infinite mercy.

Of course, if they had lived in, say, Stalinist Russia, we probably would never have heard of them.

15. It has been commented on before, but some capital city suburbs can be the lurking ground of the greens and other political loopies. Do they then migrate to places like Byron Bay and Noosa (when the Real Estate market has built up a head of steam) in order to repeat the process of writing pieces for the local paper, demonstrating, saving the planet, etc?
Support for the ALP policy on “saving” the forests went down well in city electorates they already had in the bag, but bombed in ones they could ill afford to lose - the ones closer to the forests in Tassie.

16. Just to make sure you are not one of them…wear black.

Nice to see those idiots want to wear right. Peace activists like to surrender don’t they?

18. Yes, those that know me, know that is not a stretch for me…I am in all black now. However, I will make sure to wear all black, including bits not seen, on the 20th.

19. I think you should wear red white and blue (UK + US) or Green + Gold (OZ) to celebrate the Anglosphere continuing to advance freedom and fight the coerced-collectivists.

Purple fingers might be another metaphor to roll with. “Thank Bush/Howard for Giving Dictators the Purple finger”

How about “In my name” T-shirts?

“Iraq First, Syria Already! Then Iran”

Nazi = National SOCIALISM

Lefties “Heart” Dictators.

Roll it on thick, these disgusting dictator-loving, freedom-hating socialists deserve it.

25. Are there enough Ted Nugent t-shirts to go round?

Well, according to the article, they want guitarists to come to play along to the chanting. Ted would be a good choice as no one would be able to hear the protesters over his playing. Even better, he could take along a few of his guns.

27. I wonder if the coordinators have really thought through the “wear white” thing. How many non-tennis-playing people own all-white outfits which aren’t either wedding clothes or made from leftover bedsheets, a la the Klan? I look forward to the pictures, just to see what the marchers have unearthed from their closets; it’s bound to be an interesting assortment.
