TWO WRONGS
A couple of Margo quotes:
I confess that I too see Howard as the leader of a criminal gang.
Australia is a criminal gang? Cool!
Remember Arthur Calwell’s “Two wongs don’t make a right”?
No, because he never said it.
Margo just goes from strength to strength. Or is it more appropriate to say that when Margo hits rock bottom, she digs?

No joke, if we want to use ‘hit bottom, started to tunnel’ metaphors with Margo, we are going to have to switch to bloody wormholes in the space-time continuum.
This planet is not big enough to contain a tunnel dug by Margo - she’d already be out the other bloody side and halfway to Alpha Centauri!
SHE is a journalist? And Ramsay is too? And Adams?
No wonder the breed is regarded so badly these days. It used to be you’d tell kids not to step in the dogshit. Now you tell them not to step in the journalism.

CanberraSorry, I’m confused.
Is Mr. Blair a Journalist?
I’m reading through the site and seeing nothing but links to other sites with “witty” little tags added on.
It’s not funny, and it’s not intelligent, it’s simply displays Blairs interest in Google.
Mr Blair, until you produce a product that even comes close to the webdiary in terms of original content and readership then I suggest you keep your mouth shut.

You got that right.
Is Mr. Blair a Journalist?
Yes. That’s what he gets paid to do.
I’m reading through the site and seeing nothing but links to other sites with “witty little tags added on.
Have we reached the destination of your train of thought yet?
It’s not funny, and it’s not intelligent, it’s simply displays Blairs interest in Google.
And journalism is meant to be all of the above?
Oh, and is Tim’s blogging required to be journalism?
Mr Blair, until you produce a product that even comes close to the webdiary in terms of original content and readership then I suggest you keep your mouth shut.
And how original is what you’re writing, hmmmm?
Until Margo stops saying things that are not correct, I encourage you not to suggest that Tim keeps his mouth shut.
CHRIST! She is a self-indulgent IDIOT!
Just think of all those victims of unfashionable conflicts, who suffer unseen because they have to rely on the tender mercies of thoroughly RUTHLESS characters like Margo to expose their plight!
If you’re being abused in a prison that ISN’T Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo Bay, or if you’re not being “occupied” by AMERICANS or crushed by some corporate entity that ISN’T American, then YOU’RE SCREWED, because so-called ‘bleeding heart’ Lefties like Kingston will simply step right over you…I guarantee it!!!On the subject of DavidHeidelberg’s spelling problems I note this remark from his critique of Tim Blair’s site:
“A number of follow up comments are then posted by his loyal mignons (sic), all agreeing”.
We had a good laugh at this solecism recently.
David also needs to do a bit of work on “its” and “it’s”
David,
Alan Anderson and both wrote curteous comments to Webdiary during the last election, written with the express purpose of getting published by not being obnoxious etc. Polite, and courteous.
We were not published because Margot practices censorship which we don’t.
Neither does Tim unless it is an ad-hominem.
So your comments are out of order, I am afraid.
Ah, grammar/spelling pedantry - the last refuge of the imbecile - or the un original.
The Taiwan straight is a play on words. You know a card hand. Anyway, most people got it.
Hey Louis, are you joking? This site is notorious for banning anyone with a view contrary to that of the site author and/or administrator.
I don’t agree that any comments should be banned, and that goes for webdiary. It is just an unacceptable practice, and shows a lack of confidence in your argument.
Posted by Davidheidelberg on 2005 03 15 at 06:22 AM • permalink“This site is notorious for banning anyone with a view contrary to that of the site author and/or administrator.”
True, I too have been censored by Admin for posting something off topic, but as your side of life only know how to shoot messengers, being intellectually unable to debate reasonably, there is little wonder some posts are culled.
Your last sentence is an example of bad grammar - the conflation of two divergent thoughts in a single sentence. How a lack of confidence in my (undefined by you) argument has anything to do with the preceding clause in your sentence suggests a glib but still confused mind.
Mr Blair, until you produce a product that even comes close to the webdiary in terms of original content and readership then I suggest you keep your mouth shut.
Well Mr. Hindenburg, you got that one right. Nothing, nothing can ever be quite as original in its novelty, its stupidity and its sheer lack of logic as the Webdiary.
For Tim to come close to the sheer genius that is Margo, Jack and Polly, he would need a frontal lobotomy to be able to do it.
Louis, you’re a grossly condescending individual with an enormous sense of self-importance. The same qualities your side of life tends to accuse the other of being.
My use of the word “your” was not being used in relation to you. It was in relation to the hypothetical scenario put forward, being the author of an article being too insecure to handle a contrary view.
Blogstrop, once again you show your contempt for the lower classes.
Grammar, Spelling, Pedantry, the last refuge of the imbecile?
Are you a teacher at a state school?Your constant insults more than constitute an ad hominem, however, as a loyal servant to the evil ideology, you will be embraced as a mother holds a baby to her breast, by Blair administration. Oh and I find your anonymity cowardly. Much like a bully throwing rocks from behind his bigger friend. Pathetic

That proves it David, I never posted the comment:

Blogstrop did.

David, I NEVER post anonymously.

By the way, not in the UK are you?

Guys,
I think this is a ruse to ‘lure’ traffic to his site. No one could have this sort of thing and be serious:RWDB’s are evil. I actually believe this. Also people who don’t like animals and children are evil.

Posted by Quentin George on 2005 03 15 at 07:33 AM • permalinkSo what Margo and her contributors are saying is; “we don’t mind conservatives, as long as they are not conservative.”
Menzies eschewed the name “Conservative Party” because he wanted to avoid comparisons with English Toryism. This term always had negative connotations in the former colonies where the political culture was traditionally dominated by classic 19th century liberalism.
John Howard is the first Prime Minister to adopt the description of “conservative”. But, it was not until the 1960’s - with Barry Goldwater’s presidential bid - that the term “conservative” became popular in the US. Until recently, the main centre right party in Canada went by the ridiculous name of “Progressive Conservative”. In New Zealand, the main centre right party is called the “National Party”.
Why this obsession with party nomenclature? There seems to be a view - adopted by people like Greg Barns - that the Liberal Party it is really a liberal party, temporarily taken hostage by conservatives. This is pure Webdiary revisionism.
BTW - welcome back David.
I think the rest of the quote from Margo is a gem:
“Margo: Hi Stephen. I confess that I too see Howard as the leader of a criminal gang. I voted for Howard in 1996 and may have voted for him again in 1998”How can she remember who she voted for in 1996, but can’t be sure who it was is 1998?

Ilibcc. Victim mentality?
How exactly do come to that conclusion?
I posted what I believe to be valid criticism of Blair. He’s lazy. Which was followed by insults from contributors, and a pompous analysis of my spelling. You’re the one without arguments.

I do think you should let Mr Hiedelberg continue. It amuses him so. And me for that matter.
The best disinfectant is light and air. I firmly believe this is the reason the left is in their autumn. Now they have a plethora of media to propagate their ideas they can’t understand why they can’t sell one. The playing field levelled with the internet now a near perfect market for ideas. (A shotgun of metaphors…sorry it’s late and I’ve been drinking.)

I was just a kid at the time, but I was raised in an intensely pro-labour home and it was frequently quoted at the time with much approval and always attributed to Calwell.

Posted by Jack from Montreal on 2005 03 15 at 05:23 PM • permalinkI never have any problem getting my comments published on Webdiary. The secret is to be quite inflammatory. I find that Lefties are really quite guilty about themselves and seem to revel in being told what a lot of evil, stupid sods they really are.
Hence, when I tell Margo and her fellow travellers that their sort are the problem and not the solution, they bristle and then lay on one and all. The result is that we all feel better.
So I say we need David H here. He is a tonic. If we don’t like what he says we don’t have to reply to his comments.
David
Anonymity a problem? Stiff!
I suppose the secret ballot is on the skids in your world too. Curse that oddly voting dumbocracy!
You might have noticed some disrespect for your views - they are your problem, David, not your identity, or mine.
My contempt is for the state school system which seems to have forgotten how to teach things like grammar. Seemed to touch a social consciousness nerve though, in you.
That’s also your problem.
If you want to keep sticking your head up and being provocative, you’ll get shot at by the denizens here. Your problem.Grammatical quibbles? No way. These aren’t typos, are they? You meant to type “Taiwan Straight.” You’re incorrectly apostrophizing plurals. That’s sloppy, and sloppy writing is sloppy thinking.
But by all means, keep betting that straight. The Anglosphere has a better hand: Orange Revolution, Cedar Revolution, Purple Revolution, and free Afghan elections. Four of a kind, baby. ‘All your chips are belong to us. Ha ha ha ha.’
David, I sent Margo two comments. Just two. In the first I took exception to her argument against the war in Iraq and stated that by her standards we should not have waged war against Germany or Japan. War is war after all. She posted my message and immediately followed it with a blistering rebuttal. With no chance for my reply.
That’s not a fair dialogue. That’s simply The Margo Kingston Show.
In my second comment I merely said that I hope she never gets too tired to discontinue doing Webdiary. We members of the VRWC so enjoy her, I mean we really do. I don’t believe that comment made it past the censors.
Posted by wronwright on 2005 03 15 at 07:52 PM • permalinkIn the past I’ve wondered about the need to ban commenters. But Ms. Harris is undoubtably one of the most experienced in weblog admin out there. I think she has a turd detector that is little sharper than most. This Heidelthing (don’t wont to give him even more Google links) person is nothing but a parasite. Agitating, trying to get traffic to his site. Considering the time he’s had to put a blog together, I was a little surprised to see how primitive it was. And I couldn’t believe his “analysis” of the Taiwan issue. Not even high school level - surely a satire on facile “reporting” (if so, it’s just not good enough - check out some quality satire and learn from it, David). Or is this the “standard” to which he wishes Tim Blair to adhere to? I don’t seriously think we’re dealing with an adult here, and if Ms Harris can spot these imposters early, all the better.
In the end, though, it’s all in the words. Read Margo, read little David if you like. Then read Blair & Harris. Make your own judgement. It’s pretty simple.
One of the wonders of the left is how they have always managed ot prortray the right as racist, yet scum like Arthur Calwell show who were always the most ardent supporters of the whitw Australia policy? The Australian Labor Party—Australia’s major Leftist party.
Note that The white Australia policy was eventually abolished by a conservative government under Harold Holt.David von Hindenburg offering solemn criticism and sage advise on writing techniques and article content to tim? As though Herr von Hufflebluffle speaks from one professional to another?
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
Sorry, gotta wipe the tears from my eyes….

Calwell never said that, but others might want proof that’s not contained on a site that talks about “John Curtain”.
