Wow! Will this money be spent on removing “Janjaweed” killers from Darfur?

4. They are only willing to pay $420,000 for peace? I blame all future wars on their lack of proper funding.

5. typical of stupid state bureacracys everywhere, they love spending taxpayer dough on baubles to satisfy there own intellectual arrogance, when the shows over there will as always be absolutley nothing to show for it, in other words they will consider it money well spent.

7. I spent part of my childhood in New Mexico (my dad drilled oil wells for a while before he became a cop), and I’ve always had a soft spot for the state. The scenery is beautiful and the people are interesting, but the Santa Fe/Taos area is the biggest collection of New Age lefty loons you could ever find outside of California.

8. Isn’t New Mexico the state where the Democratic governor only won after “mislaid” ballot-boxes where “found” on an Indian reservation, putting him over by a few thousand votes? (Or was that a senatorial race and/or a different state? I seem to recall a Steyn on it.)

9. I call on Texas to annex New Mexico for the United States.

10. #9 I call on Texas to annex New Mexico for the United States.

Them’s fightin’ words, richard. At least they are in New Mexican’s eyes. Texas would much rather pursue its rivalry with Oklahoma, and can hardly be persuaded to notice New Mexico.

11. New Mexico is upstream from Texas, we have a lock on much of their water.

By the way, I got the Bugs Bunny reference, but since the conference is in Santa Fe and the idiot legislature is is Santa Fe, a Santa Fe reference would have been more appropriate.

12. Wasn’t this the site of some Harmonic Convergence or some such nonsense? I believe I have seen video of newagers prancing around following “power lines” of quartz in that area.

Next, our governor (former US ambassador to the UN and Secretary of Energy) will run for POTUS.

This is getting embarrassing.

14. I’m sorry, but this gave me the biggest laugh I’ve had all day. What the hell kind of hubris is required for a politician to propose this kind of thing. What is worse, is that it’s a done deal. This is right up there with national pork barrel spending.

They say that in a democracy, you get the government you deserve. We’ve been very, very negligent. At some point, perhaps we’ll remember that these folks who are busily telling us what and how to think - and worse, what not to think - only do so by the grace of our tax money. We’ve given them too much leeway with our money.

15. Still feeling guilt about those bad bombs in their desert in 1945.
Now they’re finally showing us the way it should have been done then - just arrange a Peace Concert and invite Tojo and those Nazis - great costumes, great music..
Why didn’t Harry Truman think of that?
