LEFTIES LOVE LIES

Following Webdiary’s latest gullibility episode, Bryan Law provides the usual fake but true defence:

It doesn’t really matter who wrote the speech. It’s an important public speech and it needs to be aired. Congratulations all.

Facts never matter to hoaxed lefties. Here’s Barbra Streisand after she’d fallen for a Shakespeare fraud:

It doesn’t detract from the fact that the words themselves are powerful and true and beautifully written.

The words are true! Similarly, Professor Juan Cole:

The story of the interlibrary loan request for Mao’s Little Red Book that produced an interview by the Department of Homeland Security turns out to be a hoax.

However, it is one of those hoaxes that bespeaks a reality ...

And Jeff Alworth:

Whether or not the turkey was fake has little bearing on its purpose as metaphor ...

Spoken on behalf of the reality-based community.

    Or hoaxing lefties.

Of course, we’re pedantically talking about facts, which really are insignificant compared to the Truth.

We hide-bound RWDBs have an antiquated view of Truth as a structure, with facts as bricks and reason as mortar. Lefties are too sophisticated for such blue-collar imagery. The Truth just is, man, and you can’t let prosaic shit like “facts” interfere with it.

  10. Ed: No, that’s different, actually.

Assuming I’m reading Lee right, he’s saying that the fact that people believe the levees were bombed matters, whether or not they are correct in that belief.

And that’s true. People believing a false thing does matter (possibly more than if they believe the truth!), because if nothing else it affects what else they’ll believe and how they’ll act, given their belief.

You have to admit that the wing-nut, out there, totally whacked-out conspiroid left occupies a hell of a lot more ground on the left than does the comparable thought does on the right.

My gosh, I’m amazed that the left gets any sleep at night, so afraid of the CIA that they are.  The left today (in their fear of the omnipotent powers of the CIA) is no different than the far-right wingers had of the communists in the 1960’s. In the 1960’s, the far right blamed everything bad that happened on a communist plot, today the left blames everyhting bad that happens on the CIA.

Ok, I’ll admit it.  I want to join them, just for fun.  I can even see myself speaking, bringing them to a frothing point just before shouting GO, CHARGE THE NEOCON BASTARDS!

And then, retreating to the shade of a nice cherry blossum tree to watch the carnage.  Yes, I admit it, I really am evil.  I’ve come to accept it.  (If I lived in the Middle Ages, I probably would have watched the Children’s Crusade).

  36. On the other hand, I could well imagine the crowd of purported leftwing loonies actually being principally comprised of neocon minions there for a lark.  People like paco, Stoop Davy Dave, Dave S, MarkL, and Michael Lonie.  Yes, I could see it, me shouting like a Boshelvek, screaming to charge the White House!!!, take back the power!!!, and hearing voices of agreement back from the minions.

But when it came time to charge, all but a few cannon fodder lefties, just stay back watching for the ensuing excitement.  And then it would next be five minutes of paco trying to extoll SDD to charge, the latter doing the same to Michael Lonie.  And then we all throw up our hands and give a big shout of laughter.

No, I suppose I better clean out my garage instead.

This is just one of so many instances of false reporting by the MSM that it would not be possible to list them all in any space available on the blogs. The New York Times’ criminal reporting would fill several large volumes. (Just look at its corrections list buried deep within its pages, starting with yesterday’s paper.
