LISTEN TO AN IDIOT
Follow this link for delightful audio of Age editor Andrew Jaspan condemning kidnap survivor Douglas Wood. You’ll be charmed by Jaspan’s sweet, innocent, halfwitted tones.
I’m sure Mr Wood’s family will be gratified to know that Mr Jaspan considered their deportment “dignified.”
Ol’ Andrew makes a good point about Wood not paying anything into the Exchequer, though. He should absolutely take his millions and move to a tax haven, so Jaspan can be deprived of the opportunity to write an idiotic editorial saying how any of Wood’s money should be spent.
Listened to the Jaspan audio, and discovered that I, clear ‘cross the world, was better informed about an Aussie matter than a major newspaper’s editor in Melbourne. Man’s ‘out to lunch’ (no wine).
We make the same mistake - importing nasty idiots to Yankeeland. Not that there’s much we can do about it. Gerry
Phranger you’re too late.
The train wreck that has become the Aged ran off the rails years ago.
Longs for the 80’s when the Age was compulsory reading…

Compared to now…?
Posted by richard mcenroe on 2005 06 28 at 12:45 AM • permalinkIt would be so easy to make The Age a decent read;
1) Concentrate on all the news across the state and nation by monitoring all outlets. The Herald Sun is getting lazy and is fixated with looking like a clone of the Footy Record and New Idea.
2) When you’ve got all the facts, print them, all them, without opinion, implication or PC protectionism (like not giving a crim’s ethnicity because the journo decides it’s irrelevant).
3) Investigate: Tell the public why public servant unions get 6pc annual pay rises when the best private industry workers can hope for is 2-3pc; why council rates are rising by 10pc pa, when all anyone wants from them is to mend potholes and pick up garbage.
4) Kick some sacred cows: public libraries, AFL empire builders, conspicuous consumption of millionaire greenies.
5) Balance opinion and letters pages. Get your best writers to give left and right takes on the political story of the day; and abandon the defence that leftwingers write more letters therefore they deserve more published; of course they do, they’ve got time on their non- or underworked hands to do so.
That’ll do for starters. How come there was a resounding silence from the left regarding the money Habib earned by selling his story? I don’t recall seeing one single letter in the SMH and Age asking why this man was allowed to profit from being a would be terrorist - oh, thats right, he was simply in that jihadi-infested war zone to find a good Islamic school for his children.
Australian taxpayers also supported the family the whole time Habib was in prison - no leftie protests about that fact - and so far as I know, they are still living on welfare. This man will be supported by taxpayers for the rest of his life, whether or not we want our money used to support such a person..
Will they crawl back into their holes now that Doug Wood is losing his sight as a result of his ordeals? My bet is ‘no’ - too bad he didnt call Bush and Howard arseholes and praise his captors - people like Ackland and Japson would have been all him like the proverbial rash.

this, unfortunately is untrue; the reason why non-left people dont write to the Age is that they never get published. I gave up years ago as they didnt want to publish anything that strayed from the leftist line (except, of course, during the Hanson beat-up, they published a lot of red-neck letters so they could tuttut and sneer at them and agree that therefore anyone who supported Hanson was ipso facto, a redneck)
At a dinner about ten years ago, I sat next to the editor of the Age Letters page and she was a computer designed clone of all the looney left opinions and she told me that she wasnt interested in anything different to the party line.Posted by arnienelly on 2005 06 28 at 06:59 AM • permalinko/t
Source Andrew Bolt-Pastor Danny Nalliah was told by a hostile abc presenter(on the steps of the courthouse) to “mind your p’s and q’s” and had his answer censored.
As well red kerry moist eyed on 7.30 over a baby being born to a lady with cerebral palsy who has to be cared for like a newborn herself. The couple are planning to have other children as well.I hope they are intending to pay the costs involved or will it fall to the overburdened taxpayer again.I just listened to the realaudio file of Andrew Jaspan @ http://www.abc.net.au/melbourne/stories/s1319157.htm
He talks about Douglas Wood from about the 4 min 30 sec point until about the 8 min point.
Amazing! Jaspan’s matter-of-fact way of trying to de-legitimize a good man - a man who deserves praise, support, sympathy, and even congratulations for keeping up his positivity - is creepy.
Within the short space of a couple of minutes - Jaspan throws all sorts of things at Douglas Wood:
- That describing his captors as a—holes was: course, “ill-thought through”. That it “demeans the man”.
- Says that this has contributed to why people are (he claims) “slightly skeptical about his motives and everything else”.
- That it’s an improper way to behave after being released.
- That his family disliked the way he behaved at a press conference - and that they find him a bit boorish.
- He praises the respectful way his brothers have spoken about the Iraqi people and then complains about Douglas Wood: “for this man (DW) to turn around and call these people (!!) I won’t use that word again smacks of ... shall we say insensitivity ...”
I had to listen to that several times to make sure I was hearing it right. But, yes, he’s putting his kidnappers on an equal footing as “the Iraqi people” - several who were, of course, murdered by the kidnappers. This is very dumb.
- He complains about the cost to Australian taxpayers and reminds us that Douglas Wood doesn’t pay any tax because he’s based in California and has been out of Australia for 20 years.
- “Should he be profiting from all this to the extent that he is.”
- And, of course, the claim that Douglas Wood was “treated well ... he (DW) said he was fed”
What a dumb and mean-spirited little man this Andrew Jaspan is.
Marxist activist Liz whats-her-name gets real antsy on Media Watch which isnt surprising, thats her job description on the only media network funded on monies stolen from the taxpayer.
Let’s properly enact the Freedom of Association principle, I am sick of these over opinioned under talented gas bags holding forth on the ABC and no longer wish to subscribe, thank you.
Time to get a real job Liz, just like the rest of us.

About as enlightening and relevant as listening to Lord Emsworth reading out loud from Whiffle on the care of the pig.
