MERRY CHRISTMAS
Merry Christmas to all readers, commenters, emailers, tipsters, co-workers, lurkers, loathers, and seethers. You’ve built quite a thing here. Thank you for that. More importantly, have a great time with your families, and send pictures if you’re so inclined.
Special bonus Christmas linkage: everybody loves the Eclipse snowman.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, Tim, Andrea, and all!
And a Happy
HangoverNew Year. :-DPosted by Barbara Skolaut on 2006 12 24 at 11:09 AM • permalinkMerry Christmas everyone! Things are looking up in my life: I was able to give my neglected bicycle away to a poor family in my complex (well, all the families in my apartment complex are poor), and I was able to find a plug adapter for my porch light, so now I can turn my Christmas lights on and off with the porch light switch instead of dragging an extension cord outside. (I don’t have an outside plug here.) I think I’ll hang even more lights.

To all of the commenters here, both furrin (to use Grimmy’s turn of phrase) and domestic, Merry Christmas, and remember, don’t punch your cousins, as much as you might want to. Upsets the family, and you tend to break your knuckles. :)
Headbutting is acceptable, provided you have the head for it though.
As a mate described a girl his brother was dating once ” She’s got a forehead known and feared by streetfighting men everywhere”.
Kinda like me, without the known and feared part, I guess. Peace to all men tonight / today. Except for a certain few. You can die screaming scumbags.Dan: I don’t think I’m quite up to that, but if I can, I’ll post pictures of my pathetic efforts later.

For anyone wondering how Sgt. Ivan is doing, he came home on the 13th and will be here at least through early January. He looks good; thanks, Tim for taking care of him and feeding him so well ;)
As for me I am flying to Salt Lake City this afternoon, to spend a few days with Sonetka, her husband and their Rampaging Toddler, so I expect Christmas to ring with cries of ``Daniel, NO!’’ and ``Where’s Daniel?’’ when it gets too quiet.
Dan Lewis, you should warn people before you post pictures like that. That isn’t a real house, is it?.....Is it?
Posted by Sonetka's Mom on 2006 12 24 at 12:19 PM • permalink185 (if I can call you by your first name), thanks for the tip about knuckles.
However, since you are becoming our very own Emily Post or Miss Manners, let me as you this: Is it OK to hit my cousins with a beer bottle? Say, after they’ve ranted about Bush and Cheney and Rummy for, say, 90 minutes or so? Of course, the bottle will have been emptied first.
Enquiring minds want to know ...

Thanks for making this such an entertaining and informative blog - much appreciated!
Here I am in OZ staying awake because in a couple of hours I have to pick up a Japanese visitor who has been on a bus for a long time - from Emerald where he’s been fruitpicking and vine pruning, to Roma then onto Brisbane and now he’s on the road to Sydney for Christmas Day with us
He’s doing all of this bussing because the car he bought 18 months ago for $800 which has taken him to Perth, up to Kunanarra, to Melbourne and then on to Tasmania and at least 3 trips to Mildura from Sydney and 4 Emerald-Sydney round trips has packed up so he’s taken the number plates off the car and left it in Emerald - so now he’s on a bus
Posted by aussiemagpie on 2006 12 24 at 12:28 PM • permalinkMerry Christmas all, and if you’re unfortunate enough to be involved in one of those repulsive Yankee Swaps, simply accept what you’ve picked, set it in front of you in full view, and ignore the remainder of the proceedings, wordlessly and impassively. Take whatever you end up with and re-wrap it to bring to the next one you get dragged into. Endure.
Merry Christmas to our cousins in Australia.
Another Christmas bonus- Former Aussie footballer Matt McBriar, playing for the Dallas Cowboys was selected to start in the NFL Pro Bowl.cheers

Good advice, 185600! Fortunately, about the only cousin I would ever want to hit is a State Department weenie somewhere in Africa, and thus is out of range. For now.
Tim, it’ll be a couple of days before I can send any family photos—I’m off this morning to the coast to see said family, and I’ll likely be without computer access until I get home. Assuming, of course, that no one takes my camera and smashes it. ;-P

It’s a good thing that I have some friends on this sunny rock! Better his family than mine I suppose. Seriously, if we thought our government could kill 4000, would we live there?! Apparently his family can… please help!
we just got the bestest xmas present in melbourne - rain.
Well, you must put it back! Don’t you know desperate third worlders are dying in droughts while you decadent Westerners hog all the rainwater?
As for the relatives, no punching anticipated, since the one BDS’er in the family is still too smart to bark about it in a dinner with three 9/11 survivors and me. I do tolerate his occasional e-mails tho, in the name of family harmony.

And a special note to all those in Sydney: I didn’t bring the weather with me!
Posted by Wimpy Canadian on 2006 12 24 at 03:15 PM • permalinkAt risk of repeating myself (at least I know I’m doing it today), this is what I posted earlier - the sentiment holds up nicely:
Merry Christmas (Eve, for those of us in The Sunshine State - BTW, that pic of the St.John’s river did NOT happen this morning, it’s overcast & raining here in Jax)! Thank you all for being here & making my Life as beautiful as it is today. Special thoughts & prayers for all those standing in harm’s way around the world to ensure our Nation, our Allies, and our Civilisation survive - & for the Families who wait at Home.
Now, off to bake cookies & banana bread. Pictures will show up once the ‘festivities’ have begun, looking forward to y’all’s.
Merry Christmas to all, and thanks to Andrea and Tim for the great site. For me, Christmas is fairly humbug, but for others, I hope it to be a fine time. Best Wishes.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
MERRY CHRISTMAS especially to Andrea & Tim for keeping the show on the road.
Here in summery Tassie we too are suffering a bout of Christmas Gore-itis; rain (hooray!), with snow on the mountains.

Merry Christmas to all contributors to this excellent blog.I am new to blogging, having only started at the same time Andrew Bolt commenced his blogsite.
With Bolta’s blog closed for an unknown time(maybe forever)I thought this would be a good time to broaden my horizons. So here I am. I hope I can be a worthy contributor!

#56: “There’s people out there who are concerned and are prepared to help you.”
Concerned? You mean, like this guy? Yeah, well, good luck with that.
#12, #16, #49
Regarding the amazing Xmas lightshow, yes, it is quite real and the subject of much speculation when it hit the internet a couple of years ago.
The full details (and instructions for building your own) are here. The guy had to stop doing it after a gawking motorist wrapped his car around a pole. Nice!
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to one and all.
Posted by MentalFloss on 2006 12 24 at 08:40 PM • permalink#39 Wimpy and everyone else.. Merry Christmas from a nice cool Sydney on Christmas Day, that is cool for Sydney at about 22C [72F].
Say Wimpy, did you bring Al with you?. And yes I know you didn’t bring Canadian weather with you otherwise it would be cooler. Anyway enjoy your stay. Whereabouts in Sydney are you?
A safe and happy Christmas season and a healthy New Year from North Queensland, Australia.
Hoping for good rain soon (would even accept a cyclone if necessary). Wishing for relief for the firefighters down south in New South Wales and Victoria where things are grim.
Looking forward to more of Tim’s blog in 2007, and Andrew Bolt’s also ... a must read each day.
It’s 11 a.m. Christmas Day and all the rellies will soon be here ... back later, then a good sleep ready for the Boxing Day Test in Sydney to see Warnie get his 700th scalpHave a safe and responsible Christmas. Not like these guys .
#17 Urbs: I have absolutely no problem with that, the only question I have is why wait 90 minutes? Remember, hit hard, hit first, and for Christ’s sake make sure he goes down, mate. :)
Back on topic: A very Merry Christmas being had at mum and dad’s (The General, as his workmates used to call him). I’ve made the gravy, as is my duty, and have probably imbibed enough xxxx to down a horse, been running around with the nieces and nephews and causing havoc. Dirty Harriet has made me promise not to hit my cousin today, but that’s okay, I got the kids to cover his car in shaving cream, sort of a white Christmas. :)
Merry Christmas to you all, stay safe and remember, a cat isn’t just for Christmas, it’s also ideal for experimentation, with it’s nine lives and all (sorry, the dog wanted me to put that in). From the House in the Heart of Bogan Central, Brackistan:
Hope all and sundry have a fantastic Christmas.
Mine will be quiet, with Magilla shortly to depart this humble abode for the more exciting realm of the grandparents’ for a few days, but she got to open presents, and eat too much chocolate, and run amok at church this morning.
Currently the temperature is phucking phreezing, and the heater has been on since the thunderstorm awoke me at 6.30am.
It’s been a white and wondrous day so far.
Okay, the white comes from the hail piled high enough on the greens at the golf course to look like snow, but it’s still an amazing day.
God bless you all, especially those in the forces away from friends and family and serving in harms way.

Posted by Jim Geones on 2006 12 25 at 01:46 AM • permalinkWell Santa just came and I had to help the little fucker. At least that’s what my wife so strongly stated as she nudged me awake in my Lazyboy chair. I’m still trying to figure out how he loaded so many Polly Pocket dolls and pink toys in one sleigh, all for just one 8 year old princess. Maybe he’s a Time Lord.
Merry Christmas to All.

My thanks to Tim Blair, Andrea and all the commenters who have kept me informed and entertained in 2006.
Merry Christmas to you all and confusion to the fascists at home and abroad.
Okay, I punched my cousin, but he asked for it “Dawood Hicks should be freed, all soldiers are mudderin’ bastards. etc, etc.” Dirty Harriet tried to warn him, but he kept going. Highlight of the night, (with the exception of him hitting the ground(, dancing in the backyard, with the Constable from Hell, kisses under anything that might vaguely resemble miseltoe, and trying to explain to my Auntie why I just snotted her son. :)
God I love Christmas, just wish the best for all of you, remember, if it’s Christmas, and it’s fun, its fine!
All the best to our Furrin friends (Grimmy, thiking of you), who have it yet to come. :)
Yes, I am sloshed, p*ssed, smashed, call it what you will, but I have had a dream Christmas, punched a lefty cousin, played games with the kids, danced with Dirty Harriet, and spent time with mum and dad.
I go away again in seven days, but I know what I’m coming home to, so it’s all worth it.
M0re than worth it in fact. :)Merry Christmas one and all. Could not have been a better day around here. It’s nearly over now and so I am able to report to those where the day is yet to break that you are in for one of the greatest of all Christmases.
Treasure every moment and no need for a word or thought about the “you know who” s.
Dear Santa,
Normally I hate it when you get my Xmas order wrong - there was that time when I ordered Liebfrauwine and you put a Loewenstein in my stocking - but last year when I asked for a nice lounge chair and you put Tim Blair in the big toe, well…
net life has never been the same!!
A Happy Chanuka and Merry Xmas to Tim and all who work and sail within his blog.

Merry Christmas! And God bless us all, even Paco, every one!
In keeping with the traditions of us in the media, I have a seedy true-crime story here to get you right back out of the spirit.
