THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU’RE DUMB

Freedom of speech damaged in Denver:

Denver police say a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force has admitted to vandalizing cars bearing pro-President Bush bumper stickers at Denver International Airport.

Police say he’s responsible for thousands of dollars in damage on at least 12 cars.  Lt. Colonel Alexis Fecteau, 42, of Colorado Springs, turned himself in to Denver police Friday.

Fecteau drives a 2001 Ford Excursion. Where are the anti-SUV activists when you need them?

  4. Sadly, the military does contain its share of idiots and fools.  There’s no magic touchstone for that.

  5. I imagine he won’t be an officer for long, though. Conduct unbecoming and all that.

And a LtC, at that, Jesus.

  6. Good career move.

Hey, has anybody heard of the same thing happening to cars with Democratic bumper stickers? Cuz in my reading, I’ve only come across vandalism of Bush stickers. Same with lawn signs and campaign vans’ tires. I keep hearing about the “stifling of dissent” and “chilling effects on free speech”, but the only faces I see pies thrown at are conservative.

    Funny, that.

  7. My former boss was a retired LtC in the Air Force, who served in Vietnam (supply, or some such).  And he was the nastiest man you could ever imagine.  Military service is no guarantee against idiocy.

  8. Hey, my neighborhood!

Actually, there are plenty of reasons not to park at Denver airport.  There are intensive pigeon roosts that, if parked under, will get your car badly enough to remove paint when washed off.  There are wandering hordes of stereo thieves in the garages undeterred by sluggish Denver cops occupied by speed traps, extra-fancy coffee drinks, and avoiding hidden cameras of local TV stations that keep catching them goofing off instead of working.  There are door dings to be had from careless morons.  No, consider the $50 cab fare (each way) to be car insurance.

And if you want to see anti SUV hostility in Denver, just park one on the street overnight in Congress Park, Park Hill, north Country Club or Cheesman Park.  It won’t take more than 3 months before someone breaks your rear window to make some kind of statement.  There’s a lot of that going on, and they only seem to get SUVs.

  9. What an idiot-he drives 60 miles north-{the gas guzzler} to vandalize cars in Denver.

Shat in Colorado Springs he could just do the cars parked at work -NORAD!??!

    Space cadet.

-Cripes maybe he’s a “humanities” prof at the United States Air Force Academy-that’s only fifty miles away from DIA…

  10. Ugh! Here is his job description-

He is director of reserve operations at the National Security Space Institute in Colorado Springs, in charge of more than 40 full-time and traditional reservists.

And you know it would be all over the media if they could find something like that happening.

With the press, absence of evidence really is evidence of absence sometimes.

Why does he have to be recent arrival from France or Canada?

Ever heard of the Louisiana Purchase? Denver is on land that was part of it.

Louisiana was colonized by the French in 1699.
