VIOLENT PEOPLE LINKED TO VIOLENCE SOMEHOW

The London Times reports:

The Pope has risked a renewed rift with the Islamic world by baptising a Muslim journalist who describes Islam as intrinsically violent and characterised by “hate and intolerance”.

Where the hell did he get those crazy ideas? Next paragraph:

Pope Benedict XVI baptised Magdi Allam, 55, an outspoken Egyptian-born critic of Islamic extremism and supporter of Israel. He has been under police protection for five years after receiving death threats over his criticism of suicide-bombings.

Oh. This echoes the ABC’s perfect Islam epigram of 2006:

Middle Eastern leaders and analysts have warned of a potentially violent backlash in the region to the Pope’s remarks implicitly linking Islam to violence.

  1. Islamists are not violent, and if you keep saying they are they will have to kill you. Pig dog crusader.

Welcome to Mr. Allam, and I wish him long life and many blessings.

    Hehe tks.
It’s also great to cook roasts, etc. via the indirect method with a hooded gas BBQ, for ease of set-up, but it’s not quite the same flavour as the mighty Weber (a friend regularly smoked his own cheese in one! :)

I do ALL my indirect cooking with the Weber.  After doing some yard bird for the wife, she won’t let me touch the gas grill ‘cept to sear some steaks.  Even a Christmas goose one year…. turned out great!

How do you baptise a muslim?
The Times seems to be conceding to islamist thinking that once a muslim you are always a muslim; if that becomes mainstream western opinion then the battle is half lost.

  20. One can well understand that fanatics will have no sense of irony, because irony and a sense of humour go hand in hand; but what excuse is there for the left commentators, like ‘our sal’ neighbours of ‘our abc’ who blithely report such irony; at least this guy will have a lot of company, he can go to the salman rushdie-Hirsi Ali apostate meetings.
On a puzzling note, tony jones did a very deferential interview with Hitchins last night, and seemed to agree with Hitchin’s disparaging comments about obaamaa.

  24. The word “Muslim” is the participle of the same verb of which “Islam” is the infinitive.
With Muhammad’s death in 632, disagreement broke out over who would succeed him as leader of the Muslim community.
    Split infinitive? Into participles?

  25. Allam is correct.

The mere fact he’s needed 5 years of police protection after receiving DEATH THREATS more than proves the point about how hateful and intolerant Islam is.

What’s even funnier is that the OIC has plans to combat “Islamophobia” (that is, perfectly legitimate criticism of Islam) wherever it occurs.

Therefore, the OIC will be more concerned with ensuring that Allam doesn’t criticise Islam at all as opposed to the crazy Islamists who threaten to kill him even though he has perfectly reasonable criticisms.

    Islam is crazy.

On a similar note, Little Lord Phatleroy misses the other pachyderm in the parlour in order to fret about those wacky Americun tub-thumpers and holy rollers- you know, those dangerous freaks who’ve croaked…..um…er…well actually no-one, but they’re mean to uphil gardners, daphnes, atheists, commies and democrats, so they’re the epitome of religion-caused evil and nastiness in the world.

  32. I think Adams is in love and it is with a tall black man named Barry. And not for the first time. Seems Sydney Poitier also made him feel a little, you know, “curious”.

As for his tirade against Robertson, have no idea if any of it is true. The fact that Phil wrote it means it probably isn’t. His record on facts is appalling. But even it was, it doesn’t alter the fact that Barry has spent 20 years under the spiritual guidance of a mad racist pastor named Jeremiah Wright.

Coincidently, Phil and Barry have used the same argument to defend jerry. They have pointed to someone worse - Phil says Robertson, Barry says his grandmother.

  33. Mr. Adams, as the arch-antiAmerican in Australia, seems to exercise an extraordinary penchant for moral equivalence in composing his columns.

Why criticise Sen. Obama for his associations when it is far easier (as Guy from Melbourne points out in the comments) to weave out of whole cloth a tapestry worthy of the envious Athena, depicting evil Evangelicals bent on “Immanentising the Eschaton” through their hidden, perfidious and powerful influence on all aspects of Amrican politics—legslative, judicial and executive?

And aren’t all the America-haters drawn, as so many flies, to such scatological (and, if Phatso is to be believed, “eschatological”) bull droppings.

All this time I thought I and my Semitic brethren, especially the “Elders”, were responsible for the world’s woes. Been taken down a peg, I have!

Note to self: Call extraordinary meeting of the Elders before this Pesach…
