HE REALLY WANTS TO DIRECT
Frustrated thesp Kevin Rudd:
I don’t want to wake up one morning in the year 2020 with the regret of not having acted when I had the chance.
Meanwhile, actors want to be politicians. Everyone’s gone crazy! Speaking of which, here’s a note sent last December by my heavily-medicated lefty fan “Garry Logan”, beneath the gleeful subject line “Reserve bank meets and interest rates don’t rise”:
Poor Timmaaaaaaaaaaaay,
looks like all those predictions about the world ending under a Rudd government aren’t worth the effort you spent making them.
I don’t recall predicting the end of the world (that’s more likely to come from Al Gore impressionist Rudd) but it’s worth noting that interest rates have subsequently increased and now stand at a 12-year high - with the support of treasurer Wayne Swan, which marks a post-election change in Labor policy:
Mr Rudd said that if Labor were elected, economic policy would be geared to maximising downward pressure on inflation and rates.
Actually, at one point Labor went even further:
Labor has had to withdraw an online advertisement which said a Kevin Rudd government would cut interest rates.
Stand by for Rudd’s apology.
